Google Search profiles now support single-login multi-account management for sub-brands, extended headlines, and a lowered eligibility threshold of 10,000 followers
Google Search Profiles Update 2026: Multi-Account Admin, Extended Headlines, and 10K Threshold
Google has introduced a suite of major functional updates to Search profiles, giving newsrooms, media organisations, and digital creators a consolidated, verified home base on Google Search. Announced by Search Product Manager Ibrahim Badr, the enhancements focus on streamlined sub-brand management, richer visual presentation for articles, and broader accessibility.
Search profiles serve as a customizable, shareable hub where publishers can consolidate their social media accounts, latest published stories, and key links.
1. Multi-Brand Management via a Single Login
For media companies and publishing houses overseeing multiple publications, managing individual brand profiles can create administrative friction.
Unified Account Dashboard: Publishers can now claim and administer Search profiles for all of their sub-brands through a single login.
Streamlined Operations: Profile details, links, and social credentials can be updated centrally without juggling multiple account sign-ins.
2. Enhanced Article Displays with Extended Headlines & Optimised Thumbnails
Google updated how articles display inside Search profiles to make content discovery easier and drive deeper audience engagement:
Optimised Thumbnail Visuals: Image thumbnails are now formatted so article photography and lead graphics display clearly and look their best.
Increased Headline Lengths: Headlines now display with greater length, reducing truncation, improving legibility, and helping fresh coverage stand out.
3. Expanded Eligibility with Lowered Follower Thresholds
To make Search profiles accessible to a wider pool of digital journalists, regional outlets, and creators, Google has expanded eligibility:
10,000 Follower Requirement: The qualification benchmark for U.S. publishers and creators has been reduced to 10,000 followers.
Cross-Platform Counting: Follower counts can be aggregated across YouTube, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), or TikTok.
How to Get Started
Direct Access: Eligible creators and publishers can log in directly to their Search profile to activate these updates.
